The 1887-S Morgan Silver Dollar, graded PCGS MS62, is a desirable Mint State example from the historic San Francisco Mint. While the 1887-S date is more challenging to locate in higher grades compared to many other Morgan issues, this certified MS62 specimen offers strong collector appeal and classic late-19th-century American silver artistry.
Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features Liberty in profile wearing a Phrygian cap, surrounded by thirteen stars. The reverse showcases the bold American eagle with wings extended beneath the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
In MS62 condition, this coin retains original mint luster with moderate contact marks typical for the grade. The strike detail remains clear in Liberty’s hair and the eagle’s feathers, preserving the integrity of the design. With 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, it combines substantial silver content with historical significance.
An excellent addition for collectors building a Morgan Dollar date set or focusing on San Francisco Mint issues.
